Berniece Ellen (Gausman) McNeice

Feb. 4, 1918 - Oct. 15, 2015

SUN CITY, Ariz. -- Berniece Ellen (Gausman) McNeice, 97, passed away Oct. 15, 2015, at Sun City.

She was born Feb. 4, 1918, to parents, Henry and Anna Gausman in Orono, Kansas. She lived and attended school in many small towns in Nebraska, including Hubble and O'Dell. She married Berwin N. "Jack" McNeice in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on Feb. 6, 1943.

Berneice began her teaching career in 1936 at the age of 18 in a one-room school house in Hubble, Nebraska. She retired from teaching after more than 40 years as an English teacher in McCook, Nebraska.

She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Sun City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bwerin McNeice, on June 12, 2009; sister, Edith Osterbuhr; and three brothers, Homer, Julius and William Gausman.

Survivors include son, Barry and wife, Sharon McNeice and granddaughter, Lauren, all of San Diego, California.

Services are pending with Dignity Memorial in Sun City.
