Randy Eugene Unger, 66, passed away on October 19, 2023. He was born on June 15, 1957 in McCook, NE to Norman and Barbara (Troxell) Unger. Randy grew up in Nebraska and then moved to Colorado where he loved the mountains, and then found his way to Iowa (mostly because of hunting). He married Terrie in 1977 and later divorced in 1989, together they had Stacey, Stefanie and Shawna. He married Wendy in 1991, with whom he had Chelsey and Hailey, until her passing in 2012. In 2014 he married Debbie with whom he shared his life with, until his passing. Randy was an avid hunter and would always have his dog next to him. His love of hunting spilled over to his job – he worked in the gun department at Scheels, proudly displaying his turkey he shot. Fishing was also one of his favorite pastimes. Randy enjoyed going out to dinner and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Randy is survived by his wife, Debbie; daughter’s, Stacey (Richard) Campbell, Stefanie (Kevin) Walter and Shawna Unger, Chelsey Unger and Hailey Unger; 8 grandchildren, Bailee, Jayden, Rylan, Cierra, Nathan, Ashlynn, Korbyn and Payton; 2 great grandchildren, Sebastian and Myles and siblings, Rick (Linda) Unger, Doug (Mary) Unger and Kathy (Rick) Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents and second wife, Wendy. Service will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., at Bethany Church, 720 NE 52nd Ave., Des Moines, Iowa. Family will greet friends prior to services from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., at the church. Randy will be laid to rest next to his second wife, Wendy at Waukee Cemetery in Waukee, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made to Randy’s family in his loving memory.
