Robert Frossard - Class Of 1959

CHANDLER, Ariz. — Robert (Bob) J. Frossard, age 79, went home peacefully to the Lord on Nov. 13, 2021 at his home in Chandler. Bob was born on Nov. 17, 1941, to his parents, Fredrick and Verna Frossard in McCook, Neb. He attended college in Milford, Neb., where he studied auto body. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1961 through 1966. He was aboard the USS Midway and the USS Saratoga. Bob married Sharon (Kay) Niermeier on July 16, 1966, in McCook. Together, they had three girls; Jena (Frossard) Whitener of Tulsa, Okla., Tricia Frossard of Dallas, Ore., and Shawna (Frossard) Hurst of Chandler. Bob worked at Max Body Shop in McCook. He moved the Frossard family to Edgemont, S.D., in the 1970s to begin his 31-year career for Burlington Northern as a brakeman and conductor. His main route was hauling coal from Edgemont, S.D., to Gillette, Wyo. Bob moved the family to Colorado to provide a good education for his daughters. He continued working for Burlington Northern until he retired as a conductor in early 2000. He enjoyed boating, skiing, hunting, fishing, camping, working out, and golfing. He enjoyed quality time with his wife, daughters, and grandkids. Likewise, he enjoyed traveling, teaching other kids to ski, fish, drive, survival camping skills among various other outdoor activities. Bob was a hard-worker and illustrated good work ethics to his girls. Upon retiring, Bob and Kay enjoyed traveling to camp, fish, and visit friends and family. Bob was part of the “Bass Fishing Club” in North Platte, where he participated in teaching young kids to cast. Bob’s health took a turn while on their traveling adventure. He and Kay decided to slow down and settle in Chandler to receive medical care. They golfed together with friends and family, always working on improving his game. Additionally, they attended Risen Savior Lutheran Church. Bob and Kay have always been believers in Christ and enjoyed sharing the word with anyone they came in contact with throughout their lives. Bob is survived by his wife, Sharon; three daughters, Jena Whitener and husband, Keith of Tulsa, Okla., Tricia Frossard of Dallas, Ore., Shawna Hurst and husband, Eric of Chandler; four grandchildren, Jaron Pearson of Avondale, Ariz., Brendan Lushbough of Columbus, Ga., Preston Pearson of Portland, Ore., and Kael Lushbough of Fayetteville, Ark.; and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Pearson of Portland, Ore., and one brother, Denny Frossard and wife, Connie of Sedalia, Colo. Bob is also survived by his godchildren, Bryce Jacobson, Bradley Wolf, Timothy Wolf, Melissa Wolf, Caleb Schipke, Kirk Schipke, Jennifer Schipke, Lisa (Winningham) Sauer, Leslie Haberman, Susie Haberman, Ashley Hellman, Tammy (Junker) Craig, Corey Castens, Melinda (Stoelting) Crow, Chris Niermeier, and Craig Nemechek. A memorial service for Robert will be Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 23714 S. Alma School Rd., Chandler, AZ 85248.
