Renon Andrus Blum, 80, passed away January 28, 2021 in Provo, Utah. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Renon was born October 5, 1940 in Murray, Utah to Howard and Ila Andrus.
Renon grew up mostly in Provo, Utah but, following several family moves as her father's career with JC Penney required; graduated from Cedar City High School. While in southern Utah, she loved her summer jobs working at Zions National Park. During an interim family move to the Midwest, she spent three of her high school years in McCook, Nebraska where her gregarious nature and infectious laugh led her to be elected vice president of her class. She also found pleasure and made quick (but life-long) friends as a cheerleader and drama club member. It was at McCook High School that Renon met her life-long love – Harold. Their high-school romance blossomed and they were married August 23, 1960. Harold and Renon recently celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage.
With the ultimate goal of becoming an elementary school teacher, Renon received her undergraduate degree from the University of Denver in Education. After moving, with her family to Portland, Oregon, Renon continued her education, earning a Masters in Education from the University of Portland.
As a dedicated teacher for over 30 years, Renon earned the love of her students and fellow teachers alike – while also receiving recognition as district Teacher of the Year. She was able to combine her passion for history and natural writing skills to publish three historical plays for elementary children – which she also produced and directed before appreciative audiences. As a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Renon loved using her teaching skills and creativity in her many callings working with the youth and women in her various wards.
She is best remembered and appreciated as a grandmother (and great-grandmother) extraordinaire. She loved her family fiercely. She is survived by 18 grandkids and 20 great grandkids – all of whom carry numerous memories of fun times with GG that, upon reflection of time with her, bring out quick grins and audible laughs. NEVER forgetting a birthday, few grandmas/great grandmas have had so deep an impact on their family – earned by a deep love for each and demonstrated by her loving (and very "tricky") musical cards that kids carry around long after their birthday presents are forgotten.
Renon is the loving wife to Harold Blum, and mother of four – Tamara Jones (Clark), Jeff Blum (deceased), Nicole Sallenback (Lance) and Brian Blum (Laura); siblings Bonnie Kerby and Phil Andrus.
