Irma E. “Tommie” Spears, 87, of Scottsdale, passed away peacefully, surround by family May 11, 2006. She was born on the family farm near Trenton, NE, Jan. 19, 1919. Irma moved to Scottsdale in 1942 and was retired from AiResearch. Preceding her in death were her husband, Thomas Spears, her parents, seven brothers and one sister. She leaves to mourn one sister, Evelyn Duckworth, a host of loving nieces and nephews and her special friend, Edward Morris. To all who knew her, she was a strong, kind, generous and fun-loving lady who will be sorely missed. Funeral Services will be held Wed. May 17 at 9:30 am at Green Acres, 401 N. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley or Scottsdale Elks Lodge #2148.

Irma married 12/5/1941 in Honolulu, Hawaii to William Byron Thompson (9/2/1910 to 3/22/1990). They divorced but later remarried in 1959. That marriage was short lived as she married Thomas Spears in 1961.
