Jackie Dean Frease

April 17, 1946 — April 1, 2025

Jackie “Jack” Dean Frease of McCook, NE, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the Community Hospital in McCook, NE at the age of 78.

Born in McCook, NE on April 17, 1946, Jack was one of six kids to parents James Charles Frease and Charolette Viola Bailes. Jack had many accomplishments in his younger years including being a two-time golden gloves boxer, he took his fast pitch softball team to Nationals twice as a pitcher and was an accomplished boxing coach in Scottsbluff for many years.

Jack proudly served his country in the US Navy. He enlisted on December 20, 1963, and was a Radar Electronics Technician for the Navy. Jack respectfully achieved the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on April 13, 1967. Jack was also a member of American Legion Post #203.

Jack was a builder, general contractor and electrician as a profession. He worked for himself most of his life, building different businesses as he moved from Nebraska to Colorado to California.

Whenever Jack had free time, you could find him golfing with friends or fishing with his buddies. His favorite place to fish was at Lake Powel with his family and friends.

He will be remembered for his toughness, his willingness to stand tall for what he thought was right and his generosity for those who needed it most.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents; three wives, Janell Poindexter, Debra Worth, and Annie Wallace; brothers Jim Frease and Denny Frease, and sister Carol Loman.

Those left to celebrate Jack’s life are his sons, Jim (Nikki) Frease of McCook, NE, Marc Frease of Austin, TX, and Mike (Ryanne) Frease of Northbrook, IL; sisters, Polly Frease of McCook, NE and Fran (Jack) Russell of McCook, NE; five grandchildren, Justine, Jacqui, Charlie, Sadie, and Fletcher; 3 great-grandchildren, Alice, Jackson, and Amsley; and numerous friends, extended family, nieces, and nephews.

Memorials are suggested in Jackie’s name to be designated at a later date.

There will be a memorial service on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook, NE at 10:30 AM, with Pastor Steve Bales officiating.

After the service, there will be an inurnment at Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook, NE.

Karen Ervin (Capp) (1964)

Jackie was my first boyfriend in the 9th grade at McCook High.  He was a handsome wildchild and I have thought about how his life turned out. Wonderful to read his Memory and know his live was full.
