Agnes was the daughter of George and Olive (Townsend) Elbert. Her grandparents were Simon and Gertrude (Hufnagel) Elbert and Daniel and Melicent (Shaw) Townsend; great grandparents Nathan and Nancy (Williams) Townsend and Joshua and Hannah (Pogue) Shaw.
Her siblings were: Millicent (M. John Colfer), Rose (Sister Aloysius), Esther, Mary Ellen (m. ? Pantenberg), George Bernard, Cecelia (m. William Geiger), Gerald, Olive (Jason D. Dorwart) and Margaret Clare Elbert.
On Sept. 14, 1911 she married Roy L. Lyon in St. Patrick Catholic Church, McCook, Red Willow, Nebraska. They had three children Raymond B., William G., and Ester G. Lyon.
