W. H. Mahoney of Round Butte Is Taken by Death-- Farmer of Flathead Valley Dies Following Brief Illness

Ronan, Oct. 30-- (Special)-- William Henry Mahoney of Round Butte, a well-known farmer, died at a local hospital Saturday evening, following an illness of two weeks.

Mr. Mahoney was born in Chicago June 2, 1874. His father was William Henry Mahoney and his mother the late Margaret Mahoney-Flannigan, a resident for several years of the Round Butte section.

Mr. Mahoney was married to Margaret O'Neil at Butte June 14, 1910, and to them were born three children, Margaret Ann, a teacher at Boulder; Paul Philip, employed on the Los Angeles Times; and William Henry Jr., who resides on the home farm at Round Butte. Mr. Mahoney also leaves to mourn his loss a sister, Miss Lillian Flannigan of Round Butte; two uncles, Philip J. Foley of Chicago, and Dr. John Foley of Columbia Falls; and two cousins.

Burial will take place at the St. Ignatius cemetery by the side of his mother. The body is at the Schreader Brothers mortuary in Ronan.

Mr. and Mrs. Philip J. Foley arrived from Chicago the first of the week, called here by the serious illness of their nephew. W. J. Gannon of Anaconda and Mrs. Ronald McDonald of Polson will all be here for the funeral. All members of the immediate family were at the bedside when Mr. Mahoney passed away.

Mr. Mahone graduated from high school in McCook, Nebraska, and then came to Anaconda where he was employed by the Anaconda Copper Mining company until he came to the Flathead in 1912. He was a charter member of the fourth degree Knights of Columbus of the Anaconda council. Mr. Mahoney served for four years as trustee of school district 28.

A solemn requiem high mass will be sung Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at Sacred Heart church in Ronan with Rev. Father Edwin Gilmore celebrant, assisted by Rev. Father William O'Malley and Rev. Father Robert O'Dea of Polson
