Hattie Belle Yarger Clark, daughter of John H. and Mary Evelyn Yarger, was born on the 27 day of March, 1876 in Knoxville, Iowa and came with her parents to McCook in 1884 where she resided continuously until her death at home on July 6, 1944. Mrs. Clark was an accomplished pianist and was one of the early organists at the McCook Methodist Church in which both her parents were charter members and where she continued to hold her membership at the time of her death. One of the first to complete the studies offered in the McCook schools, Mrs. Clark was quite proud of her distinction in being the first graduate to have a child graduate from McCook High School. Her life was one of willing and cheerful service and the opportunity to provide pleasure and happiness for others was often granted her. A loving wife and mother, she permitted no outside interest nor demand to interfere with the unselfish, devotion which she gave to her family, home and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Abner F. Clark, and two sons, Cloyd E. Clark of Elwood, Nebraska and Sgt. Glenn L. Clark of McCook, Nebraska, now serving with the armed forces overseas. Mrs. Clark also leaves a sister, Mrs. Edna Stewart of McCook; a nephew Waldron H. Yarger of Denver, Colorado now serving as a gunnery officer in the Pacific war theatre; and two nieces Elnora Nunley of Portland, Oregon and Dorothy Jean Little of New York City.
