In 1940, John married Anne Mooney, while he was in the Army Air Corp. They lived in Northport, NY until John was stationed elsewhere, and after moving around during the war years, John went back to flying for American Airlines, and they moved back to Northport, where they raised their three children until 1955, when the family moved to Garden Grove, California.
In 1968, Anne and John bought a home in Bonners Ferry, where the spent their summers, wintering in Garden Grove
