Esther C. Ledbetter, 89, Montpelier, died at 2:30 a.m. Friday (Oct. 6, 2000) at Blackford County Hospital, Hartford City.

Mrs. Ledbetter retired in 1976 after 24 years of service at Montpelier Bank. She was a member of the Montpelier Fireman’s Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 1156 Auxiliary.

She was born in Cambridge, Neb., on Jan. 19, 1911, to Daniel James and Ida Marie Spath McFarland.

Survivors include four sons, George “Peach” Ledbetter, Fort Wayne, Virgil “Buck” Ledbetter, Kennedy, N.Y., Bill Ledbetter, Coalmont, Tenn., and Larry Ledbetter, Tempe, Ariz.; three daughters, Mrs. Gene (Patty) Getts, Fort Wayne, Mrs. Bill (Delores) Hammond, Angola, and Mrs. Bob (Dena) Morrow, Apopka, Fla; a brother, Daniel J. McFarland, Long Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Frances Maddox, Nashville, Tenn., and Irene Green, Columbus; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Earl Ledbetter; a brother, Bill McFarland; and three sisters, Lena Knosp, Geneive Dillman and Nellie McFarland.

Calling will be from 1-6 p.m. Sunday at the Glancy Funeral Homes, Walker Chapel, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday with Pastor Ken Horning officiating.

Burial will be at Twin Hill Cemetery, Pennville.
