Leona M. McCracken, 83, died Tuesday (Feb. 22, 1994) at her home in Blue Springs.
She was born Aug. 28, 1910, in McCook, to Jack and Jane Traphagan.
On Nov. 23, 1936, she married Edward W. McCracken near McCook and they moved to Wymore. They moved to a farm north of Blue Springs in 1956.
She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Wymore and was president of St. Mary’s Altar Society for approximately 25 years.
Survivors include her husband on rural Blue Springs; one son, John “Jack” McCracken and his wife Rachel of Simi Valley, Calif.; one daughter, Sister Barbara McCracken, OSB of Atchison, Mo.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Vap, Eleanor Traphagan and Bernadine and her husband Ike Malcolm all of McCook.
Preceding her in death wereher parents, one brother, John Traphagan; and two sisters, Loretta Rupert and Genevieve Anderjaska.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Saturday;, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wymore, with the Rev. Dennis W. Hotovy officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Wymore. A scripture and rosary service will be 7:30 pm Friday at the church.
Visitation will be noon -6pm., Thursday at the Fox Funeral Home in Wymore; and Friday 6:30-9 pm at the church.
Memorials may be addressed to the Hospice Home Healthcare Services of Beatrice Community Hospital and left at the funeral home.
Fox Funeral Home of Wymore is in charge of arrangements.
