Rue J. Hammell, 75, of 518 E. Capital Ave. died Wednesday in a local hospital. He had been seriously ill since last November. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Olson officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Shriner's Hospital Fund.

Hammell was born Feb. 10, 1904, at McCook, to Mr. and Mrs. John Hammell. Following his graduation from McCook High School, he attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. On Oct. 29, 1926, he married Caroline Kain at Sioux City, where he became interested in the implement business and operated a similar business in Hastings. He then served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged as a major. After retiring from the implement business, the Hammells moved to Estes Park, Colo. and eighteen months ago, they moved to Grand Island. Mr. Hammell was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Estes Park, Colo., and the Tehama Shrine at Hastings and a member of the Blue Lodge of Masons.

Survivors include his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Joan Handley of Grand Island, and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by one sister.
