William Poore - Class Of 1949

William Forrest Poore, Jr., 74, died Monday (Feb. 21, 2005) at Community Hospital of McCook. He was born March 10, 1930, in McCook to William F. Poore, Sr. and Mildred D. (Modrell) Poore. He grew up in McCook and graduated from McCook High School in 1949. He attended the Nebraska State Trade School in Milford. He married Anna Lucille Coursey in Hudson, Colo., on Sept. 7, 1952. He served in the US Air Force from 1951-1955 during the Korean Conflict. Before retiring he worked 30 years as a maintenance supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service in the Denver area. He was a Scoutmaster for 25 years. He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the VFW, the McCook Masonic Lodge No. 135 AF&AM. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two sisters, Bonnie Jean Poore and Marjorie June Bradshaw. Survivors include four sons, Stephen Poore and wife, Pamela of Belgrade, Mont., Timothy Poore and wife, Dawn of Morris, Minn., Kenneth Poore of Denver, Colo., and Dean Poore and wife, Tracy of Northridge, Ohio; four brothers, Wayne Poore and wife, Edna, Donald Poore and wife, Mary, Dale Poore and wife, Peggy and Rex Poore and wife, Jeanette, all of McCook; a sister, Mary Ann Tardiff and husband, Ron of Alamogordo, N.M.; and eight grandchildren.
