Lee "Japp" Dinnel - Class Of 1946

Lee 'Japp' Dinnel Jr. Monday, February 23, 2004 GREELEY, Colo -- Lee "Japp" Dinnel Jr., 74, of McCook, died Sunday (Feb. 22, 2004) in Greeley, Colo. He was born March 25, 1929, to Lee George and Doris (Hamilton) Dinnel in Wauneta. The family lived in Wauneta before moving to McCook in 1941. He graduated from McCook High School in 1946. He graduated from McCook Junior College in 1950. On Aug. 20, 1950, he married Janie Rowley at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook. In 1951, he began working for the Burlington Railroad. He retired as a conductor in 1986. He was a member of the McCook Elks Lodge No. 1434, the UTU and the B of RT. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janie on July 14, 2003; and his sister, Evelyn Marshall on July 12, 2003. Survivors include two sons, Lee Michael Dinnel and wife, Diane of South Lyon, Mich., and Patrick Dinnel and wife, Patty of Grand Island; and one daughter, Lori Keller and husband, Robert of Eaton, Colo. Services are Thursday, 2 p.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
