Rex Grossart Obituary

ACelebration of Life for Dr. Rex R. Grossart will be held at Trinity Methodist Church on Friday, February 25, 2005 at 2 p.m. Rex passed away on Sunday, February 6th at Enloe Hospital. He was born October 31, 1927 to George and Eva Grossart in Grand Island, Nebraska.

At the age of 77, and married 53 years, Rex is survived by the love of his life, Patricia Louise Grossart. He was the proud father of three sons, Randall, Kyle and Ron; grandfather to Jenae, Jason, Kelly, Cary and Leah; and daughter-in-laws Kathleen and Gail. He was the beloved brother of Dee Veeder; a nephew Rex Lee Veeder; niece Allison Bivins; and sister-in-law, Lanone Stacey.

The legacy of Rex's life is one of honesty, integrity, compassion, wisdom, devotion, high moral values, cherished friendships, great accomplishments, a keen sense of humor, and above all else, the unconditional love of his family. The hundreds of lives he touched in his long journey will be forever enriched, which is the true measure of a beautiful life.

Rex served as Athletic Director at CSUC upon his moving to Chico in 1967 after coaching successfully at the levels of high school, Jr. College and University. He was a teacher, musician, son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He was all of these people wrapped into a rare, one-of-a-kind human being. Rex was blessed with one of those genuinely good souls that God gives sparingly. In turn, we are all blessed to have known and loved him, and the light of his spirit will live on in all of us.
