Charles Clapp - Class Of 1947

Charles J. 'Bud' Clapp Friday, March 12, 2004 March 5, 1929-March 12, 2004 CAMBRIDGE -- Charles J. "Bud" Clapp, 75, died Friday (March 12, 2004) at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge. He was born March 5, 1929, to Charley and Chrisinthia (Balius) Clapp in McCook. He grew up in McCook and graduated from McCook High School in 1947. In March 1951, he entered the Army serving during the Korean Conflict. On Aug. 18, 1951, he married Freda Schreffler in McCook. The couple has spent their married life in McCook. He was employed by the ASCS Office in McCook before starting his own construction business in 1964. He retired in 1996. He was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church, the McCook Elks Lodge No. 1434 and the Eagles Club. He was the commander and member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Dean Clapp on March 5, 1977; two brothers, Albert Clapp and Clifford Clapp; two sisters, Evelyn Spence and Eva Harris. Survivors include his wife, Freda of McCook; one daughters, Penny Gonzales and husband, Leonard of McCook; two sons, Randy Clapp and Royce Clapp, both of McCook; five sisters, Gladys Earl and husband, Darrell Earl of Bartley, Gertrude King, Mildred Housley, Levina Fritsche and husband, Paul and Beverly Premer and husband, Gary, all of McCook; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services are Monday, 2 p.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Jeffery Thurman officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery in McCook.
