Clarence Brenning - Class Of 1939

 

May 9, 1919-April 13, 2006 Clarence Brenning died Thursday, April 13, 2006, at Community Hospital of McCook at the age of 86. He was born May 9, 1919, in McCook, the son of the late Jacob and Elizabeth (Miller) Brenning. He grew up in McCook and graduated from McCook High School in 1939. He entered the U.S. Army June 23, 1941, and was stationed for 45 months with the Field Artillery in the Hawaiian islands during World War II. Following his discharge from the military he returned to McCook. On March 26, 1948, Clarence married Hazel Jean Gage at McCook. He spent his working life in McCook where he was employed by McCook Packing Company and later by Dayco Electric Hose Company. He was an avid fisherman and family man. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lexie Jean Brenning on Aug. 27, 1952; five brothers, Jake, Henry, Ralph, Lawrence and Walter Brenning; and one sister, Pauline Trupp. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in McCook. Clarence is survived by his wife, Hazel Jean Brenning and one son, Robert Ray Brenning and wife, Janet, all of McCook; four grandchildren, Alex Kerr and husband, Jerry of Lawrence, Kan., Samantha Brenning of McCook, Tom Gage of Del Mar, Calif., and Pamela Kuhlman of Wildcrest, Calif.; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Grosskopf of McCook; daughter-in-law, Anita Gage of Oceanside, Calif.; and sister-in-law, Edith Brenning of McCook; and relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, at the Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Eddie Wright officiating. Inurnment will follow the funeral at Riverview Cemetery in McCook on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Memorials may be given in his name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home from 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Sunday. Herrmann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
