Mrs. Edwin D. (Joni) Nelson of 921 Troy Ct., a resident of Colorado since 1939, died Thursday at 10:45 p.m., in Memorial Hospital.

From 1940 to 1971, she was associated with her husband in operation of the Fox Theatre, and until her retirement she assisted him for 22 years in his position as secretary of the Montrose County Chamber of Commerce.

Born Feb. 11, 1918 at McCook, Neb., Joan Valentine (Joni) Glass was the daughter of Fred and Leah P. (Anderzen) Glass. She graduated from the McCook High School. While residing at Boulder, during World War II, she was assistant manager of three different theatres.

On August 26, 1936, she was married at Loveland to Edwin Daniel Nelson. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters and one son: Mrs. Lawrence (Joed) Taylor, Craig; Mrs. Roger (Leah) McEachern, Irvine, Calif.; Dan Nelson, Denver.

Sisters and brothers are Mrs. Lucy Hubman, Stockton, Calif.; Jim Glass, Vista, Calif.; Mrs. Renee Baer, Azusa, Calif; Fred Glass, Gunnison; Mrs. June Hill, Upland, Calif.; Mrs. Joyce Nichols, Covina, Calif. Also surviving is an aunt, Mrs. Julia Ross, Elm Creek, Neb.

Mrs. Nelson was active in the Republican party, a member of the Montrose Woman's Golf Assn., and Montrose Emblem Club, No. 91. Her special interests were in golf and antiques.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where services will be conducted by the Rev. Jim Kleiner Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment in Grand View Cemetery will be directed by Kinsey's Montrose Funeral Home.
