Richard Shepherd - Class Of 1934

 Richard James Shepherd

Richard J. Shepherd, 84, died Sunday (July 2, 2000) at Commuunity Health Hospital of McCook. He was born July 12, 1915, in Frontier County and graduated from McCook High School in 1934. He also graduated from McCook Junior College. On Sept. 4, 1938, he married Della Appleyard at McCook. They farmed in Frontier County until moving to McCook in 1948. He worked in men's clothing stores for 40 years, at Gierharts and managed Vogue Clothing for many years. He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, McCook Masonic Lodge No. 135 AF&AM, all of the York Bodies in McCook and the Scottish Rite Masons of Hastings. He was also a member of the Tehama Shrine, the Eureka Chapter No. 86 Order of Eastern Star and the McCook Elks Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Rodney James Shepherd, on Feb. 16, 1997; two grandsons, Cody and Brock Pasquan; three brothers, Clint Shepherd, Wayne Shepherd, Kenneth Shepherd; and one sister Blanche Hubbard. Survivors include his wife, Della Shepherd, of McCook; one son, Dennis, and wife, Majel Shepherd, of Skiatook, Okla.; two daughters, Dixie and husband, Roger Buffington of Farmington, N.M.; Christine Broeking, of Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Maxine Poore, and Clara Hoppe, both of McCook, Jean, and husband, Dwight Woodruff, of Loveland, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren
