Eleanor Hassler (Perkins) - Class Of 1933

Eleanor M. Perkins, 88, died Tuesday (March 9, 2004) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. She was born Aug. 26, 1915, to Frank and Hannorah (Moore) Hassler in McCook. She grew up in McCook and graduated from McCook High School in 1933. She attended McCook Junior College. On Oct. 30, 1939, she married George Washington Perkins Jr. in McCook. The couple spent their lives in McCook. She was employed by Nebraska Public Power and retired in 1980. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Rosary Society, the Hospital Auxiliary and the Padriac Extension Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, George on Oct. 31, 1972; twin granddaughters, Christine and Kimberly Perkins; her parents; and two brothers, Robert Hassler and Joe Hassler. Survivors include two daughters, Roberta Krauss of Lakewood, Colo., and Frances Buczek and husband, Tom of Bellefourche, S.D.; two sons, John Perkins of McCook and Thomas Perkins and wife, JoAnn of Omaha; one brother, Francis Hassler of McCook; one sister, Mary Ann Comminello of Denver; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. Services are Friday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church of McCook. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook. The rosary will be recited today, 7 p.m., at Herrmann Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be given in her name and friends may call the funeral home from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Herrmann Funeral Home of McCook is in charge of the arrangements
