Gean Hegenberger (Smith) - Class Of 1933

Gean Hegenberger Smith Friday, June 10, 2005 (Sept. 6, 1915 - June 8, 2005) Gean Hegenberger Smith died Wednesday (June 8, 2005), at the Community Hospital of McCook at the age of 89. She was born Sept. 6, 1915, in McCook, the daughter of the late Floyd and Myrtle (Rupp) Hegenberger. She grew up in McCook and graduated from McCook High School in 1933. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford, on May 13, 2003; one daughter, Joyce McDonald Dosier; and her brother Herman Hegenberger. She was a life long member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church and served twice as president of the Women's Guild. She was a member of DAR, a charter member of the McCook Cordials, and past president of B.P.O. Does. She was the first president of the Women's Golf Association and an avid golfer for many years. She is survived by one daughter, Judith Kelly, and husband, Jim of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; her sister, Doris Knox of Simsbury, Conn.; and her dear friend, Ken McCoy. Memorial services will be 3 p.m., Saturday, June 11, 2005 , at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in McCook with the Rev. R. Samuel Williams officiating.
