In Memory

Larry Rasser - Class Of 1957

Larry Edward Rasser was born May 20, 1938, in McCook, the first-born and only child of Bob and Gerri Rasser. In his schoolboy years he was involved in Boy Scouts and participated in track. Early on, many though that Larry "would make his living by his hands." He graduated from McCook High School. Larry met De Raichart in their junior year in high school and they became engaged on their graduation night. Larry and De became husband and wife on Sept. 14, 1958. God blessed their marriage with two sons. Ken was born in 1963 and Steve came along in 1966. Over the years, Larry participated with the boys in coaching Little League and teaching them about woodworking and scuba diving. Family gatherings and vacations were always an important part of Larry's interests. Larry served his country in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. He served as a jet mechanic and munitions technician. Larry's primary work career was at the University of California Davis campus as a Senior Lab Mechanician in the Food Science and Technology Department. He worked in this capacity for 28 years, retiring in 1993. After moving to Flagstaff in 1995, Larry worked as a medical clerk. Larry and De were members of the Davis Community Church (Presbyterian) for 27 years and united with Trinity Heights United Methodist Church upon their move to Flagstaff. Larry's church family will greatly miss his warm smile and positive attitude. He was certainly a blessing to Trinity Heights as he faithfully served with quiet strength as a disciple of Jesus Christ. We commend Larry to his Savior who also was a "master carpenter" being confident of this, that he who began a good work in Larry will "carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6). Larry went to be with his Lord Wednesday (June 26, 2002) at the Olivia White Hospice Home in Flagstaff. We will give thanks for his life and keep his memory alive in the years ahead until we meet again in eternity. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert, in Oct. 2001. Survivors include his wife, De of Flagstaff; sons Kenneth Rasser and wife, Vicky of Waverly, Iowa and Steven Rasser of Davis, Calif.; and his mother, Gerri Rasser of McCook.
