Mona 'Monie' Mae Padgett

Mona "Monie" Mae Padgett died Monday (May 19, 2003) at Community Hospital of McCook. She was 66 years old.

Monie was born Oct. 26, 1936, at Wallace, to Pascal Carter and Valda Fern (Comstock) Padgett. She graduated from McCook High School in 1955. After graduation she entered the U.S. Marines. After her honorable discharge she worked in and around the Washington, D.C. area for 20 years. She returned to the McCook community in 1975 to help care for her parents. She was employed by the Frenchman Valley Coop as a bookkeeper for 12 years until her retirement.

She enjoyed playing softball, going fishing and her dogs, Tuffy, Sandy, Major and Buddy.

Preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, Lewis, Lloyd, and Forrest Padgett; and one sister, Shirley.

Survivors include her special friend of 30 years plus, Julie Young of McCook; two brothers, Thomas Padgett and wife, Norma, of Pacific, Wash., and Darrel Padgett and wife, Diann, of Miami, Fla.; three sisters, Beverly Radford of Butler, Mo., Roma and husband, Alvy Terry, of Valentine and Connie Padgett of McCook; one aunt, Naomi Eloge, of Nebraska City; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at Carpenter Breland Chapel with the Rev. Arthur Phillips officiating. A private family inurnment will be at a later time.
