Rosa E. Nelson-Wilcox, 93, died Sunday (20 January 2002) at McCook Community Hospital in McCook.
She was born 6 Nov 1908 at rural Culbertson, to Asa E. and Lula Maud (Sommers) Schlegel. She graduated from McCook High School in 1926.
On 1 June 1927, she married Guy Nelson in Culbertson. He preceded her in death in 1972 and she married J. Lynn Wilcox on 23 Dec 1978. He died in 1987.
She was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church and Methodist Women. She was also a member of Order of Eastern Star, McCook BPO Does and a home extension club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one son, Arlyn Lee Nelson; and two nephews, Glen Nelson and Richard Nelson, who she raised.
Survivors include five daughters, Nadine and husband, Gerald Owens of Littleton, CO; Avis and husband, Bob Ray and Dorothy and husband, Bob McLaren of McCook, NE; Fern and husband, Ken McGuire of Cloudcroft, NM, and Karen and husband, Jim Ruff of Culbertson, NE; one step-son, John and wife, Ber Wilcox of Columbia, MO; three brothers, Art and wife, Charlene Schlegel of Pueblo, CO; Clarence and wife, Lucille Schlegel of Culbertson, NE; and Gene and wife Edna Schlegel of Milwaukee, OR; one sister, Wilma and husband, Leo Schilz of Ogallala; 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Services will be Friday, 10:30 am at Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeffery Thurman officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 9 am to 5 pm and Thursday from 9 am to 9 pm at Carpenter Preland Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given in her name.
