Mildred Modrell (Poore) - Class Of 1921

Mildred Devona Poore died Monday, June 7, 1999 at the Community Hospital in McCook, Nebraska at the age of 96. She was born June 2, 1903 Red Willow County, Nebraska, the daughter of the late James A. and Hattie Samantha (King) Modrell. She grew up in the Box Elder Community north of McCook. She graduated from McCook High School in 1921 and attended Kearney State College.

On June 28, 1922 Mildred married William Forrest Poore. They spent their married lives farming and ranching in Red Willow County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William on March 30, 1964; two daughters, Bonnie Jean Poore in 1935 and Marjorie Bradshaw in September 1979. Two brothers, Bernard Modrell, Earl Modrell and one sister, Pluma Herzog and one grandson, George A. Poore.

Mildred was a member of United Methodis Church, Past Worthy Matron of Eurekda Chapter 86, Order of Eastern Star, Past President of the BPO Does and the Homemakers Extension Club.

Mildred is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Tardiff and husband, Ronald of Alamagordo, New Mexico; five sons, Wayne Poore and wife, Edna; Fon Poore and wife, Mary; William Poore and wife, Norma; Dale Poore and wife, Peggy and Rex Poore and wife, Jeanette all of McCook, Nebraska. Twenty-two grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, realatives and friends.
