Rodney Dodot - Class Of 1968

March 10, 1950 - Feb. 28, 2007 Rodney Allen DODOT of Johnstown died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, at his home of severe heart disease. He was 56. He was born March 10, 1950, in McCook, Neb., to Wayne and Maxine Dodot. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, from 1968 to 1972, on the USS Ranger as an AMS3. He was discharged Sept. 24, 1974. He worked several years for the Burlington Northern Railroad. He and a partner purchased and operated Spirit Mountain Wilderness Treatment Center in Spirit Lake, Idaho, for youth. He also drove for Schwan's Sales several years. He married Shelley (Wood) Blankenship on Aug. 8, 1992, in Kalispell, Mont. Mr. Dodot was an adolescent adviser, retiring in 2000. He came to Longmont in June 1996 to be a house parent at Mountain States Children?s Home. He was a member of Longmont Church of Christ. Mr. Dodot enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, motorcycles, maps and spending time with his grandchildren. He was interested in working with troubled youth. He was preceded in death by his mother; his first wife, Mary Dodot; and a daughter, Deseree Dodot. He is survived by his wife of Johnstown; a son, Dan Dodot of Colorado; four daughters, Holly Dodot of Arlington, Texas, Brandi Counsell and her husband Clint of Salt Lake City, Summer Karlin and her husband Chad of Columbia Falls, Mont., and Britnie Corbett and her husband Shawn of Longmont; nine grandchildren; his father and stepmother, Doris Dodot of McCook; and a sister, Janet Hoskins of Hemet, Calif. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Tuesday, March 6, with Bob Lewis at Longmont Church of Christ, 1351 Collyer St., Longmont. Cremation was handled by Erlinger Funeral Service.
