My dad, Gale Cook, taught Biology and Science at McCook High School from 1967-1970. He coached track and assisted with football. Ironically, he coached my future husband, Ron Phillips, in football during this time although I did not know Ron. We moved to Lincoln in 1970 where he taught and coached at Lincoln Northeast until he retired. He coached my brother, Kevin, in football who was later selected to play in the Nebraska Shrine Bowl. My dad passed away in 1999 due to complications of diabetes and heart disease. My mother, Carolyn, who substitued for many schools in McCook still lives in Lincoln. Karen (Cook) Phillips
