Gary 'Hedge' Winston Hedges Friday, November 16, 2007 (Photo) TUCSON, Ariz. -- Gary Winston Hedges, 55, died at his home in Tucson, Ariz., on Nov. 10, 2007.
Gary was born in McCook to Winston and Evelyn (Oades) Hedges. He graduated from McCook High School in 1971. He was a proud member of the elite "Schocker" squad on the high school basketball team. In 1975, he graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln with a degree in microbiology, continuing his post-graduate education at Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
Gary met Mary Ann Kuffel in Denver, Colo., and they were married in Denmark, Wis., on Aug. 16, 1980. He worked for Kimberly Clark in Wisconsin and Georgia, transferring to Tucson in 1991.
Gary enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and participating in many sports activities. He loved Nebraska football, animals, music, playing cards and spending time with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Winston and Evelyn.
Gary is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; brother, Jim and wife, Trina of Bartlesville, Okla.; sister, Jan Prior and husband, Kevin of Grand Island; several nieces; a nephew; and many friends who loved him.
A memorial service will be in McCook at a later date.
