Teresa R. 'Teri' Speake

KEARNEY -- Teresa R. "Terri" Speake, 50, of Kearney died Thursday (Oct. 31, 2002) at St. John's Good Samaritan Center in Kearney.

She was born April 22, 1952, to Jackson B. and Nadine G. (Hoyt) Young. She grew up and graduated from high school in McCook. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at Kearney State College in 1987. She was a member of the cardiothoracic surgical team at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

She was married to James Speake.

She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Kearney, Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors, AORN and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include a daughter, Amanda Lee Speake of Lincoln; mother and step-father, Nadine and Raymond Stramel of McCook; brother, Alan Young of Huntington Beach, Calif.; step-brothers, Randy Stramel and wife, Cindy of Lincoln, Stephen Stramel and Daniel Stramel and wife, Leslie of McCook; step-sister, Marcia Morell of McCook; and nieces Elizabeth and Katherine Morell of McCook.

Funeral services will be Monday, 7 p.m., at the St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Kearney. The Rev. Thomas P. Hansen and the Rev. Robert F. Park will officiate. Burial will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook with the Rev. R. Samuel Williams officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday 7-9 p.m., at the church chapel and from 9 a.m. until service time on Monday at the church. The casket will be closed.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Kearney.
