Raymond E. Chancellor, age 52, of McCook died Tuesday (April 29, 1997} at the Curtis Medical Center in Curtis. Hewas born March 4, 1945, at McCook to Arthur and Wilma (Chancellor) Dimond. He was adopted and raised by his aunt and uncle, Theodore and Darleene Chancellor.
 
He was a 1964 graduate of McCook High School. On April 16, 1966, he married Helen M. Shepherd at McCook.
 
He served 20 years in the Nebraska National Guard. Ray was a journeyman/lineman for McCook Public Power District.
 
He was a member of the Nebraska Rifle Association and the First Church of God.
 
Preceding him in death were his parents; his adopted father; grandparents; and one grandson, Joshua Chancellor. 
 
Survivors include: his wife, Helen, of McCook; his mother, Darleene Chancellor of McCook; one daughter Lajuana Davis and husband Larry of McCook; two sons, Darrel! Chancellor and fiance, Jennifer Coates, of North Platte and Daniel Chancellor and wife Dawn of McCook; four brothers, Mertice Chancellor, Dennis Chancellor and wife Charlene, Kenneth Chancellor and wife Rose, all of McCook, and Dr. Timothy Chancellor and wife Toni of Chadron; two sisters, Delores Jennings and husband the Rev. James Jennings of Oberlin and Norene Hamilton and husband Frank of McCook; and four grandchildren.
 
Services were at Carpenter-Breland Funeral Chapel in McCook with the Rev. James C. Jennings officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery at McCook.
 
Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of arrangements.
