Ronald was a police officer in Grand Island, Nebraska. He died of a birth defect on the brain. He died in Rochester, Minn. at the Mayo Clinic.
Ron left behind his wife and four children. He was married twice. His son, Thomas Reece Chapman Butler, by Ron's second wife, is buried beside him. (Thomas was adoped by his step-father after his father passed away.)
At Ronald's funeral, the policer officers in Grand Island and the Nebraka State Patrol Officers turned out in tribute to honor their fellow officer.
In spite of his medical problems, Ronald also served his country in Viet Nam in the Marine Corp.
Ronald Chapman
Ronald L. Chapman, 29, of 137 Kingswood Estates died Tuesday, December, 23, 1975 in a Rochester, Minn., hospital. Chapman was a Grand Island, Nebraska Policeman.
Services were at St. Leo’s Catholic Church with the Rev. James O’Kane officiating. Burial was in Westlawn Cemetary.
Mr. Chapman was born July 3, 1946, at McCook to Ralph and Emma Ide Chapman. He was educated in the McCook Schools, graduating with the class of 1964.
On June 30, 1964, he entered the armed services and served with the U.S. Marine corps in Vietnam. He was discharged June 28, 1968, and made his home in Chicago, Ill before moving to Grand Island where he has been on the police force for the past six years.
On March 5, 1974, he married Pamela Boyle at Grand Island.
Chapman organized the first chapter of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers in Grand Island and was attending Kearney State College where he was majoring in Criminology.
Survivors include his widow; a son, Thomas at home; three children by a former marriage, Christine Ann, Ronald and Jon Chapman, all of Riverside, CA; his parents of Grand Island and two sisters, Mrs. Michael (Helen)Brott and Mrs. Timothy (Diane) Alberts both of Grand Island.
