MISSOURI CITY, Texas -- Kathleen "Kay" Victoria (Lewis) Rauber passed from this world peacefully at home with her nephew in Missouri City, Texas, after a short illness on March 20, 2012.

Kay was born Feb 3, 1913, to W.W. and Charlotte (Nichols) Lewis in McCook, Nebraska.

After completing her education in McCook, Kay served a 20-year career in the U.S. Air Force and retired with the rank of Master Sergeant. At the time of her retirement, she met her husband, Francis D. "Frank" Rauber, who was retiring from the U.S. Marine Corps at the same time.

They spent 25 happy years together, living first in Hawaii and then Sun City, California, until Frank passed in 1990. In 2000, Kay returned to McCook and enjoyed living at Willow Ridge Retirement Community with her many friends until the end of 2008 when she moved to Texas to live with her nephew, Gary Whiteman, and his wife, Janetta.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, her brothers Lyle and Jack Lewis, and her sister, Madge Whiteman.

She is survived by her nephew, Gary Whiteman; great-nephew Eric Whiteman; and his three children.

In lieu of flowers and cards, friends and family are encouraged to donate to the McCook Humane Society in Kay's memory.
