Roger Gilmore Obituary

Roger Hubert Gilmore, 80, of Fort Collins, Colo., passed away Friday, Feb. 11, 2011.

Roger was born on Jan. 8, 1931, in Fremont to Hubert and Amy Gilmore. Roger married Veda Cuellar on Aug. 4, 1956, in McCook. Roger graduated from Fremont High School and completed his undergraduate work at Phillips University in Enid, Okla. He earned his master's degree from the University of Iowa. He went on to attend the University of Nebraska where he earned his Ph.D. He was an associate professor at Colorado State University for 29 years and educator for 46 years.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Collins.

He is survived by his sons, Gregory (and his wife, Kelly Burton-Gilmore) of Las Vegas and Christopher (and his wife, Shelly) of Mason, Ohio; his sisters, Lois Kirkman (and husband, Paul) of Lubbock, Texas, and Wenona Gilmore of Lincoln; and grandchildren, Madison and Tanner Gilmore.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Veda Gilmore; and a brother, Donald.
