Angela Marie Marietta

Angela Marie (Viglielmo) Marietta passed away on August 29, 2026 in Omaha, NE after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born to Bart Viglielmo and Connie (Spry) McKain on October 5, 1988 in Kankakee, Illinois.

A 2007 graduate of McCook High School, Angela attended Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture. Settling in Oberlin, Angela married Bret Marietta on June 14, 2014.

Whether it was coaxing a young horse through the paces of her beloved barrel racing or spatting with a certain llama, Angela enjoyed the life she and Bret created on their farm just outside of Oberlin. Their lives were blessed with Charlie and Austin to help care for the menagerie of beloved animals. Angela enjoyed tending to the garden, creating handmade crafts, and spending time in her arena with her horses. Never one for down time, there are many homes in the area that proudly display a piece of furniture she refinished or repurposed.

A passionate barrel racer, she embraced the excitement, dedication, and friendships that came with the sport. Her determination, strength, and love for horses reflected the same spirit she carried throughout her life, including her fight against cancer.

Angela is preceded in death by her father: Bart Viglielmo; father-in-law: Alan Marietta; sister-in-law: Lora Marietta; and nephew: Camden Carreño.

She is survived and missed by her beloved husband: Bret Marietta; her children: Charlie and Austin; mother: Connie (Roger) McKain; brothers: Joshua (Tabitha) Viglielmo, James (Susan) Coulter, and Jesse (Jacinda) Coulter; mother-in-law: Judith Marietta; sister-in-law: Loni Leutner and Leah (Travis) Carreño; nephews: Liam, Grant, Joshua, Greyden, and Archer; nieces: Alaxis, Kayle, Willow, and Bethany; and many cousins and other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 4, 2026 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oberlin. Burial will follow at the Oberlin Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-7:00 PM Thursday, September 3, 2026 at the Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home with the family greeting friends from 5:00-7:00 PM.
