William E. McKenna

MCCOOK - William E. McKenna, age 57, of McCook, Neb., passed away at his home on Aug. 29, 2017. He was born in Colby, Kan. on Aug. 29, 1960, to Louis and Gloria (Vaughn) McKenna. The family moved to McCook and Bill attended McCook Schools graduating in 1979. Bill furthered his education, going to McCook Community College and later Bellevue College receiving his Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

Bill spent most of his life living in McCook, except for a short period when he worked for Walker Manufacturing in Seward, Neb. He worked for Murfin Drilling Company for 20 years and was recently employed at Valmont for 18 years.

Bill enjoyed watching his grandkids wrestle, astronomy and target shooting. Golf became a Father’s Day outing with family, playing at different courses in Oberlin, Kan., Hastings, Neb., Cambridge, Neb. and Curtis, Neb.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Louis.

He leaves to mourn his son, Justin and wife, Dusty McKenna of Hastings; two daughters, Cami and husband, Dustin Koetter of McCook and Michelle McKenna of Omaha, Neb.; eight grandchildren; mother, Gloria McKenna of McCook; sister, Shirley Wheelbarger of McCook; brother, Larry and wife, Lea McKenna of Osmond, Neb.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017 from 10 a.m. till 7 a.m. Casket will be closed at the Church. Friends may leave on-line condolences at www.herrmannfh.com

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church in McCook, with Pastor Barry Johnson officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Oberlin Cemetery in Oberlin.

Memorials may be given in his name directed to Cami Koetter, 116 South 6th Street, McCook, Neb. 69001.
