Karen Howell (Blunt) - Class Of 1978

Karen S. (Howell) Blunt 

Karen S. Blunt, 56, of North Platte, passed away April 10, 2016, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

She was born on Dec. 13, 1959, to Garrell “Red” and Frances (May) Howell in McCook. Karen graduated from McCook High School with the class of 1978.

On Aug. 16, 1986, she was united in marriage to Douglas Blunt in McCook, where they lived before moving to North Platte in 1993. She was a devoted wife, and loving mother and grandmother.

Karen loved making tie blankets for special occasions for friends and family. She headed many fundraisers for the Nebraska Kidney Foundation.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Brenda; and great-grandparents, H. H. “Red” and Golda Howell, Webster and Minnie Doyle, Lucille Morris and Clifton May.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas, of North Platte; four daughters, Amanda (Tim) Murray, of Bellevue, Shannon Hudson, of North Platte, Kelly (Dave) Stephen and Kimberly Blunt, both of Hill City, Kansas; 11 grandchildren, Katelyn, Alise, Dalton, Drake, Jacob, Creighton, Carter, Olivia, Casey, Dayton and Addison; two great-grandsons, Brody and Sylas; brothers, Kenny (Tammy) Howell and Tom Howell, both of Grand Island, Bill (Kim) Howell, of Hickman, and Pat (Janice) Howell, of Cambridge; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, at New Life Church in North Platte. Graveside services will be at 3:45 p.m. at the McCook Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., on Friday, April 15, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
