McCOOK, Neb. - Scott Joseph Malleck, age 64, of McCook, Neb. passed away on Wed., May 31, 2023 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Neb.
Scott was born Jan. 17, 1959 in McCook to parents Kenneth Charles and Nita J (Greenlee) Malleck. He was one of four siblings who grew up in McCook where he attended school and graduated from McCook High School in 1977. Following high school he begin his career working in the family Oil and Gas business.
On March 8, 1980 Scott married Debbie K. (Brown) Malleck at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in McCook. To this union four children were born.
Scott was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the McCook Eagles Club.
He enjoyed shooting, bowling, playing softball and pool and attending the horseraces with family and friends. Scott loved watching his grandchildren’s events and fishing with friends Larry and Dave. He was an avid Nebraska Huskers and Oregon Duck football fan.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Malleck; and a brother-in-law, Allan Otter.
Those left to celebrate his life include his wife, Debbie Malleck of McCook; sons, Jeremy Malleck and partner James Lumbeck of Omaha, Neb., Jerome (Kari) Malleck of Kearney, Neb., and Justin (Lori) Malleck of McCook; daughter Cami Malleck of McCook; mother, Nita Malleck of McCook; brother, Sam (Chantel) Malleck of McCook; sisters, Jody Otter of McCook and Jan (Mike) Nitsch of Arapahoe, Neb.. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family as well as our dog Darling, who was a faithful companion.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the McCook Humane Society P.O. Box 13 McCook, NE 69001.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sun., June 4, 2023 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook.
Recitation of the Rosary will follow visitation, beginning at 7 pm at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Father Dale Allder as Celebrant.
Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m, on Mon., June 5, 2023 at St Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Dale Allder as Celebrant.
