NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — Lynn B. Melchert, 68, of North Platte passed away April 30, 2026. He was born January 9, 1958, to Burdette and Patricia (Shackelford) Melchert in McCook.

Lynn grew up west of McCook on the family farm. He attended McCook High School and graduated with the class of 1976. Lynn attended Kearney State College and received a business degree.

Lynn was a driver for GI Contract Carriers, and a truck driver for Paul Bartels Trucking for many years. He was awarded “Driver Of The Year” for Crete Carriers in 2021. Lynn was always a friendly and considerate person.

He enjoyed hobby farming and the farmers market due to his upbringing on the family farm. Lynn enjoyed doing leather work and working with his hands.

Survivors include brothers, Norman Melchert and Keith Melchert of North Platte, Neb.; nieces and nephews, Hayley (Donovan) Weedman of North Platte, Neb., Andrew Melchert (Sara) of North Platte, Neb., Jacob (Rene) Melchert of North Platte, Neb., Adam Melchert of North Platte, Neb.; great nephews, Blake, Mason and Jameson; aunt and uncle, Duane (Grace) Shackelford of Lincoln, Neb.; and numerous other cousins and family members.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Burdette and Patricia; brother, Matthew (in 2019).

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Trenton Cemetery, with Pastor Tim Sivits officiating. Visitation will be held noon to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
