Cheryl Lynn Gillen

July 26, 1959 - Jan. 3, 2022

HASTINGS, Neb. — Cheryl L. Gillen was born on July 26, 1959, in Denver, Colo., to parents, Dale and Helen (Corey) Gillen. She passed away from natural causes at her home in Hastings on Jan. 3, 2022, at age 64.

Cheryl grew up in McCook, Neb.  She was raised in the Lutheran faith and as an adult, joined the Catholic faith. 

After graduating from McCook High School, she worked for many years at the Parker Hannifin hose plant in McCook.  Cheryl then moved to Hastings and enjoyed attending auctions and antiquing.  She had a tremendous gift of memory and enjoyed visiting with people.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale Gillen and Helen Corey Gillen; older brother, Terry Gillen, and two-year-old half-sister, Janice Fuerst; grandparents, Joseph and Edna Corey and Lawrence and Elsie (Loren) Shuck.

Survivors include several uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Cheryl lived through many hardships and medical issues.  May she rest in God’s heavenly peace.

Graveside inurnment services will be at Riverview Cemetery on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 10 a.m., with Fr. Bernard Lorenz of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church officiating.
