David Corey

Nov. 1, 1955 -March 20, 2018

LINCOLN, Neb. — David Corey, age 62, of Lincoln, passed away at his home in Lincoln on March 20, 2018, following a brief battle with cancer.

David was born in Yuma, Colo., to parents, Joseph E. and Mardelle Y. (Hilker) Corey on Nov. 1, 1955. He was one of seven children. The family later relocated to McCook, Neb., where David attended school. He was a part of the Class of 1975.

David was baptized and confirmed in his faith at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook. In adulthood, David returned to school, receiving a machine tool tech degree from Southeast Community College in Lincoln. David was employed by Commercial Plastics in Waverley, Neb., where he will be remembered for having a good heart and a smile for everyone.

Throughout his life, David enjoyed fishing, collecting postage stamps and coins. He was most proud of his Strawberry Cent Coin Collection from the late 1700s. David also enjoyed muscle cars. His 1969 Charger was his favorite. You could often find him listening to 1970s rock music.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Corey and sister, Naomi Corey.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Mardelle (Charles) Miller of McCook; two brothers, Thomas (Nancy) Corey and Daniel (Amelia) Corey, all of McCook; three sisters, Joan Corey of Hamlet, Neb., Mary (John) Robison of Syracuse, Neb., and Rebecca (Dave) Seybold of Trenton, Neb.; step-sister, Liz Triplett of Algonquin, Ill.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 25, 201,8 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook with family greeting friends from 5- 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 26, 2018, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook with Rev. Lonnie Felcher officiating.

Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, McCook.
