McCOOK, Nebraska -- Janet Deloris Fidler, age 56, departed this life on Jan. 19, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on May 26, 1955, to Robert L and Doris (Eaton) Crocker in McCook.

Janet graduated from McCook High School and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, and began a 35- year career at McCook Community Hospital, where she culminated her nursing career as Vice-President of Patient Care Services. She was a dedicated nurse and touched numerous lives throughout her career.

Janet married the love of her life, Michael Bruce Fidler on July 5, 1985. They made their home southeast of McCook where friends and family enjoyed yearly Fourth of July celebrations.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Doris; grandparents, John and Mary, Deloris Eaton and Louis and Julia Crocker; beloved great aunt, Eva Relph and niece, Jami Lynn Wilcox.

Left to mourn are her husband, Mike; sister, Cynthia (Bob) Wilcox of McCook; brothers, Richie (Jody) Crocker of McCook and Dan (Teresa) Crocker of Lincoln, Nebraska.

One of the greatest joys of Janet's life were her nieces and nephews, who loved her as their other mother. These include Ryan, Kyle (Melissa), Tyler and Ashley Wilcox, Joshua (Tracy), Joseph and Riley Crocker, and Jacob and Nathan Crocker. Janet's great nieces and nephews also brought her untold joy. These are Braden, Kailey, Kassidy, Madison and Oliver.

Janet will be greatly missed by all who knew her and remembered for her gentleness and courage.

Memorials are suggested to the McCook Community Hospital Foundation at P.O. Box 1328, McCook, NE 69001.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home in McCook.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 at 2p.m. at McCook Christian Church with Pastor Dale Heimer, officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
