Robert Eugene Henthorn

Dec. 19, 1953 - Aug. 14, 2017

CULBERTSON, Neb. — Robert Eugene Henthorn of Culbertson passed away Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, at Kearney Regional Medical Center, Kearney, Neb. He was 63 years old.

Bob was born on Dec. 19, 1953, at Seward, Neb., to parents, Robert W. and Virginia Mae (Sandberg) Henthorn. When Bob was in the eighth grade, the family moved to McCook, Neb., where Bob would graduate from high school with the class of 1972. After graduating, Bob started working for his father at McCook Concrete. Later he became a business owner himself, with Henthorn Sand and Gravel and Henthorn Truck Sales. For the past several years he had been employed as a salesman for Mountain Cement located in Laramie, Wyo.

On Sept. 13, 1989, he was united in marriage to Debra (Chambers) Clapp, in Las Vegas, Nev. They made their home in Culbertson. Bob happily gained three children to this union, Kyle, Kris and Kelly. Bob and Debra were ready to celebrate their 28th anniversary this year.

Bob was a member of the McCook Eagles Club for many years. He enjoyed restoring old cars, blue rock shooting where he participated on several teams, and hunting pheasants and deer. He also enjoyed water skiing with friends, when he was younger, family get-togethers, playing a good game of pitch or pinochle, and just spending time with his family, friends, and most importantly his granddaughters. He especially enjoyed becoming a grandfather.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert and Virginia Henthorn; maternal and paternal grandparents; and his ever-faithful canines, Bouncer, Windsor, Sammy and Duchess.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Henthorn of Culbertson; one daughter, Kelly Clapp of Grand Island; two sons, Kyle Clapp and Kris Clapp and wife, Kristyn, all of Culbertson; sister, Wendy and husband, Bob Boukal, of Omaha; brother, Roger A. Henthorn and wife, Linda, of McCook; two granddaughters, Kamryn and Kloey Clapp; numerous family and a host of friends, and his canine, Zoey.
