Laurel Schilz (Leibrandt) - Class Of 1971 VIEW PROFILE

Laurel “Laurie” Ann Leibbrandt, age 66, of Danbury, passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019, surrounded by family at her home.  She was born in McCook, Neb., on March 24, 1953, to Virgil and Opal (Trainer) Schilz.  Laurie attended and graduated from McCook High School in 1971.  On Feb. 24, 1972, she was united in marriage to LaVern D. Leibbrandt in McCook at the Methodist Church.   The couple made their home on a farm near Danbury.  Laurie worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses and most recently, for the last 13 years, at Southwest Feeders, prior to retirement in February of 2019. Laurie was a huge Denver Bronco fan and attended the Super Bowl in San Diego, Calif.  She had many chances to sell her tickets for a big profit but declined so she could root her team to victory. She also loved the Cornhuskers. Laurie was an avid turkey hunter, enjoying many outings as well as hunting deer with her son and husband.  She enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents. Laurie is survived by her husband, LaVern of Danbury; daughter, Stacy of Danbury; son, Tracy and partner, Chasity Pahach of Clancy, Mont.; brother, Mike and wife, Lenora Schilz of Bristol, Va.; niece, Jael and husband, Warren Jones of Kingsport, Tenn.; and nephew, Justin and Katie Schilz of Puyallup, Wash. In keeping with Laurie’s wishes she chose cremation.  A memorial service will be at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., with Terry McCorkle.  A private family inurnment will take place at a future date. Friends may leave online condolences at herrmannfh.com.  Memorials may be left in Laurie’s name to either the Beaver Valley Fire Department or the Community Hospital Hospice of McCook.  Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
