Della May Matson was born in Hastings, Nebraska on January 17, 1952 to Carl and Castella (Eaglin) Golden. She attended school in McCook and graduated from McCook High School in 1971.
In February 1975, Della married David A. Maston, with whom she had three children: Willie, Donniel and Bart. The family resided for a period in Colorado Springs, Colorado, before returning to McCook. Della dedicated over 20 years of service to Walmart during her time in McCook.
An avid collector, Della had a passion for rocks and pig-themed items. She also enjoyed painting and crafting. In her younger years, she participated actively in a local bowling league.
Della passed away early Wednesday morning, May 13, 2026 at Great Plains Health in North Platte. She was 74 years of age.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rita; significant-other, Tom Jensen; and ex-husband, David A. Matson.
Survivors include her children, Willie (Erin) Matson, Donniel (Greg) Eng and Bart (Kayla) Matson; grandchildren: Dawnovan, Cady (Preston), David, Neil, Cavan, Liam, Cassady, Cameron, Axell and Allison; great-grandchildren: Zayden, Raya, Braxton and Baylen; brother, Carl Golden; as well as extended family and friends.
Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM on Saturday afternoon, May 16, 2026 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
