Rodney Dean Sawyer was born on August 14, 1952 in McCook, Nebraska to Lorence E. and Dorothy (Offner) Sawyer. He attended school in McCook and graduated with the McCook High School Class of 1970. Rodney was united in marriage to Andrea L. Svoboda on May 21, 1990 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She preceded him in death in 2006. They made their home in McCook where they raised their family and made countless friends. Rodney was an antique dealer which led him to a love of garage sales and thrift stores, always looking for a new treasure. He took place in IMCA racing and was a member of the American Pool Players Association. He was preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life, Andrea; and brother, Gary Sawyer. Survivors include his son, Jason Sawyer of Portland, Oregon; daughters: Jessica and husband, Jason “Bo” Bowman of Omaha, Nebraska; Shelby and husband, Joel Baker of McCook; and Chantel Sawyer and fiancé, Garrett Miller of McCook; grandchildren, McKinnley and Phoenyx Bowman of Omaha and Jaxx Kalinski of McCook; brother, Donald and wife Shirley Sawyer of McCook as well as his mother-in-law, Letha Svoboda, also, of McCook. Rodney passed away at Kearney Regional Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska early Monday morning, November 28, 2022. He was 70 years of age. Cremation was chosen and memorial services will be held at 10:30AM, Saturday morning, December 10, 2022 at the McCook Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Jeff Donelan officiating. Inurnment will follow services in Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook. Memorials are suggested to the family of Rodney Sawyer for future designation. Online condolences may be left at herrmannfh.com.
