Cynthia Johnson
Wednesday, December 24, 2025

Cynthia “Cyndi” Sue (Frick) Johnson, age 73, was born on April 9, 1952, in McCook, Nebraska, and passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, in Lincoln, Nebraska, surrounded by the family she adored.
Cyndi was the heart and soul of her family—a woman whose love knew no bounds. Not only did she raise four rambunctious sons, but she also served the community of McCook with her in-home daycare for more than two decades. She loved loading those kids in her van and taking them to the park or Walmart. She loved each of them as her own including two great nieces she fostered.
After the death of her father, she relocated to Florida to be with her elderly mother. She continued to care for others as a CNA and med-tech. In 2019 she moved back to Nebraska and loved nothing more than gathering with her children and grandchildren. She never missed a basketball game, music concert, baptism, or confirmation. The grandkids were always delighted to receive a Valentine, a birthday gift, or something special for Christmas—spoiling them was her super power. Cyndi was a bright light in every room—warm, caring, and endlessly giving.
She had a true gift for taking care of others and making people feel loved. Whether she was decorating graves every Memorial Day, getting lost in her romance novels, or simply spending time with her sons and their families, Cyndi poured her heart into everything she did. Family was her world, and her unwavering devotion created bonds that will live on for generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Helen Frick, and her uncles, Alan Nordhausen and Jim Teeters. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her four devoted sons and daughters-in-law: Brady and Jill Johnson of Seward, Nebraska; Cory and Chantelle Johnson of Lincoln, Nebraska; Ryan and Laura Johnson of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Todd and Leah Johnson of McCook, Nebraska.
Her greatest joy was being “Grandma Cyndi” to fourteen grandchildren and “Great-Grandma” to four precious great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her aunts Judi Nordhausen and Shirley Teeters; and special cousin Jimmy Eason.
A small family-only service was held on Saturday, December 20th.
A celebration of life and graveside service will be held this summer in Minden, Nebraska, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved grandparents, Larry and Sarah Binderup.
