Mary Jane (Dingworth) Broomfield

November 20, 1950 - March 28, 2018

Mary Jane (MJ) Broomfield, age 67, passed away peacefully at her home on March 28, 2018. She was born November 20, 1950, in Grand Island, to Norbert and Frances (Cordes) Dingwerth. She graduated from McCook High School and earned her bachelor's degree from Kearney State College. MJ spent her career in human services and community and economic development.

MJ was a lifetime advocate of doing everything you can to improve the community and environment around you. This was both a personal and career goal. She worked in the communities of Kearney, Lincoln and Holdrege; Harlan and Atlantic, Iowa. She kept busy enjoying many hobbies throughout her lifetime including, sewing, gardening & landscaping, reading, puzzles, traveling, spending time with friends & family and most recently creating works of art with beads.

MJ is survived by her daughters; Becky (husband Nate) Michel and Carolyn (husband Chris) Ledy and grandchildren Owen and Noah Michel; step-children Kelly Broomfield, Rob (wife Jackie) Broomfield, Carrie (husband Ryan) Sullivan and step-grandchildren Megan, Nick, Max, Payton and Jameson; sister Betty Killion, step-mother Eileen Dingwerth and sisters-in-law Elda Powley and Barbara Broomfield. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Robert (Bob) Broomfield.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 6, at First Plymouth Church, 2000 D Street, Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. www.bmlfh.com
