Larry Richard Siebrandt

McCOOK, Neb. — Larry Richard Siebrandt of McCook passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, at Community Hospital. He was 68 years old.

Larry was born on April 1, 1949, at Norfolk, Neb., to parents, Richard William and Alice Marie (Novak) Siebrandt. The family lived in several locations including Alliance, Ogallala, and eventually settling in McCook where Larry graduated from McCook High School in 1967.

Larry worked for Hinky Dinky during his senior year. He entered the U.S. Army on June 12, 1969 and served during the Viet Nam War. He was honorably discharged on June 11, 1971. Larry continued his service in the Army Reserves for 20 years.

Upon returning to McCook, Larry resumed working for Hinky Dinky for over 30 years. He also worked for as an inspector at Dayco for three years, retiring in 2001. Larry was also a co-owner of Old Sarge’s Bar with his life-long friend and fishing buddy, Tilden Weber.

On Sept. 24, 1977, he was united in marriage to Karen Elizabeth Lytle at McCook. To this union three children were born. They made their home in McCook.

Larry was a member of DAV, American Legion and pool league. He was an avid Husker Football fan, loved to play board games and cards with family and friends, and always looked forward to fishing at his favorite lake, the Swanson Reservoir.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Richard and Alice Siebrandt; and infant daughter, Marcy.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Karen Siebrandt of McCook; two sons, Kevin Siebrandt of McCook and David Siebrandt and wife, Nicole, of Kearney; sister, Linda and husband, Michael Ide, of Manhattan, Kan.; four brothers, Gary Siebrandt and wife, Cindy, of McCook, Marlin Siebrandt of McCook, Mark Siebrandt of Fort Collins, Colo., and Roger Siebrandt and wife, Marti, of McCook; one granddaughter, Kaydence Rae Siebrandt; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in his name.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, 11 a.m. at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel with Pastor Michael Ide officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors.

Because Larry was such an avid Husker fan, friends are encouraged to dress casual or wear their Husker gear.
