Patricia E. Holt was born August 24, 1948. Pat Holt was a loving wife, amazing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend to many.
She died on March 10, 2026, at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha.
Pat graduated from McCook Senior High School in 1966 and graduated from Hastings College in 1970. She met the love of her life, Donald Holt, while attending Hastings College. They married April 17, 1971 and made their home in Hastings, NE.
Newly married and with her college teaching degree, she taught school in a one-room rural schoolhouse. She was a great teacher, and used her teaching skills throughout her life.
In 1990 Don’s trucking business relocated the family to Omaha, NE.
In 1996 after raising her three stubborn, strong-willed, independent, caring and loving children she stepped back into the business world. She partnered with her dear friend, Carol Godbout and together they opened the first Eileen’s Colossal Cookie store in Omaha
NE.
In 1999, she had a close call due to heart problems that were corrected by surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. These additional years of life she was given allowed her to be here for the 4 year battle Don had with ALS, she got to meet all of her grandchildren, and watch all of them grow to be old enough to know her. Although she would have liked to still be here to see them grow into their adult lives, they have family to support them and tell them stories about our dear sweet Pat. Her example of love and acceptance will be a guide for us all as we go forward.
She was a second mother to so many people. She loved fiercely and tried to help everyone around her. The joy in her life was her children and grandchildren. During all the stages of her life, she collected friends.
Her faith in God led her to her calling as a Sunday school teacher in Hastings. Her religious work in Omaha was supporting the Omaha Tri-Faith initiative and Countryside Community Church. She knew God as an inclusive and caring God who welcomed all to His table of love and acceptance.
Thank you to everyone who kept in your thoughts and prayers and sent cards, texts, called, visited, sent flowers and gifts. She was aware of all of them, and was very appreciative and
grateful to have you all in her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Holt; father, George Gilbert; mother, Ava Murveen Gilbert; mother-in-law, Nina Jensen; father-in-law, Vearl Jensen;
brother, Michael Gilbert; son-in-law, Brian Speer; sister-in-law, Laurie Holt; brother-in-law, Robert Shreck and nephew Tyson Andrews.
She is survived by her loving children, Andrew (Katherine), Allison Speer, and Matthew (Kate), all from Omaha NE. Seven grandchildren, Andi and Charlie Holt, Anaka Speer, Bailey Bartunek, and Hudson Speer, Garrett and Page Holt; brother, James Gilbert (Sharon Shelbourn), Sister-in-law, Susan Shreck; brother-in-law, James Holt; and sister-in-law, Janet Gilbert. Numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins and friends.
The memorial service will be Friday, March 13, 2026, at10:00 am located at Countryside Community Church 13130 Faith Plaza, Omaha NE.
Interment will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings, NE at 10:00 am on Saturday, March
14. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Phoenix Academy, 1110 N 66th St, Omaha, NE 68132 or Countryside Community Church, 13130 Faith Plaza, Omaha NE.
